Other Useful Commands

Discussion Group Users have reported that the following features are among the most useful discussion group commands:

To update your Account settings (such as setting options like digest and delivery modes), go to the Discussion Group manager server home page by clicking here (or alternatively by entering http://www.galists.org/read/login into your Internet browser and clicking Go).

Instructions for Accessing and Changing Your Account:

1. Enter your email address when prompted, and then click OK



2. Enter your password when prompted, and then click OK (please note that you must know your password to make any changes to your subscription)



3. Click on the My Account Tab if that is not the tab that is selected.  The My Account screen appears and the Essential information in your account is displayed.

Updating your account settings:

The Membership type pull-down menu is where you can change how you receive the emails from the list. The different types are summarized below -

• Mail: Receive messages to your email address as they are contributed to the list. This is the default setting, and the typically the preferred subscriber type.



• Digest: Receive all of the daily messages in one email.



• MIME Digest: Receive all of the daily messages in one email in MIME format. With MIME, each message is received as an attachment to the email.



• Index: Receive a daily index of the subject lines of the messages of the day. You can then request specific messages or view them with the web interface.



• Nomail: Don’t receive list contributions to your email address. You can view messages with the web interface.

To change your password:

1. Click on the Advanced Tab



2. Select the mask in the password area and type in a new password.



3. Click on the Save Changes button in the lower right hand corner.

To unsubscribe from any or all lists: 

• Complete and submit the Unsubscribe form.
