KS&A is planning a national conference in Denver this summer, where we will be featuring quality speakers and support groups regarding topics of interest to individuals and families affected by X and/or Y chromosome variations, including Klinefelter syndrome, Trisomy X and XYY. Attending conferences such as this are something we consistently hear are of significant value. Accordingly, if you’re not able to attend the KS&A conference, but would still like to attend an event later this year, we are aware of several other conferences being hosted by reputable organizations that you may wish to explore. These are -
2008 KS&A National Families’ Conference
Plans are well underway for a great conference at the recently-announced “eXtraordinarY Kids Clinic” at Children’s Hospital in Denver. Like the KS&A conference, this clinic will focus on all X and Y chromosome variations, including 47,XXY, Klinefelter syndrome, Trisomy X and and 47,XYY. This weekend conference will provide an opportunity for the individuals and families whose lives are directly affected by these conditions to learn the latest information from some of the nation’s leading research scientists, educational specialists, medical investigators and clinicians. Additionally, there will be opportunities for pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with top experts, and plenty of time for meeting other families and individuals affected by these conditions, conversations and lots of fun. Watch this page for a list of confirmed speakers, logistics and additional information about this event. In the meanwhile, in order to let us know you are interested in potentially attending this event, contact Kathi Henry at KS&A’s toll-free number (888) 999-9428, or via e-mail at .
9th Annual AAKSIS National Conference
This 2-day conference will focus on pediatric, adolescent and adults with Klinefelter syndrome and Klinefelter variants. For additional information, and to find out about the event cost, accommodations and the confirmed list of speakers, click here or contact Roberta Rappaport at the AAKSIS toll-free number (888) 466-5747, or via e-mail at .
XXYY Symposium
The Symposium is a weekend of comraderie and respite for males with 48,XXYY and their families. Attendance is restricted to 48,XXYY males and their families, invited speakers and attendees and medical researchers. For additional information, and to find out about the event cost, accommodations and the confirmed list of speakers, click here or contact Renee Beauregard at the XXYY Project office at (303) 400-3456, or via e-mail at .
A 3-day event by and for adult XXY men only. During 2005, KS&A hosted the first ever Adult Retreat exclusively by and for adult men with Klinefelter syndrome. In 2006, the event was held in the mountains of North Carolina. Like 2005 and 2006, this event is being planned by, and will be exclusively for adult men who are 47,XXY (please, no parents, spouses or persons under the age of 21). Most of the participants who attended KS&A’s prior two Adult Retreats agreed that it provided them a unique opportunity, where confidentiality and respect were assured, to open their minds and hearts to understand, embrace and support each other. The 2008 event will build on that tradition, but add an additional dimension by being co-located in Denver with the 2008 KS&A National Conference. This will provide a weekend when adult men can spend time with old friends and make new ones, and still take part in some of the group activities that are planned with families and younger children attending the more-traditional conference event. To let us know that you may be interested in attending this event, contact Kathi Henry at KS&A’s toll-free number (888) 999-9428, or via e-mail at .
