Melanie says that while she learned about Klinefelter syndrome on a scientific level as a result of her work at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, the firm that markets AndroGel® (Testosterone gel), her interactions with Melissa Aylstock and various other members of KS&A are responsible for her learning what it really means to have Klinefelter syndrome, and for her desire to make a difference to these individuals and their family members.

Melanie is a Registered Nurse with a certification in nephrology (i.e., kidney-related) nursing.  After many years practicing within clinical as well as academic settings, Melanie completed a degree in organizational behavior from Northwestern University and began her career in the pharmaceutical industry.  At Solvay, the U.S. operations of which are headquartered in Marietta, Georgia, she presently serves as a Product Manager for Specialized Markets.

Melanie has significant experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.  She served as Solvay’s 2004 and 2005 corporate liaison for AIDS Walk Atlanta, organizing the Solvay Walk Team and conducting various fund-raising events in support of this initiative.  During 2005, she also served on the Core Team for the United Way campaign, which generated more contributions than in any other year in Solvay’s history.  Additionally, she volunteers for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), advocating for seven siblings in her county to assure their needs are met while in custody of the state of Georgia.
